5 out of 5 stars Love it!   December 12, 2008
Love my steamer! Of course it works great for veggies and rice but hard boiled eggs turn out perfect! A breeze to peel and cooked just right. Couldn't be easier!

1 out of 5 stars Cooking with Plastic   December 5, 2008

I've had one that worked well for over 15 years since they were first introduced. Good technique or oven mitts are needed when lifting the lid while it is steaming or you will get scalded. The recent health news regarding BPA in hard plastic drinking bottles got me to stop using it. I can't imagine how accelerated the leaching of this chemical might be by cooking in it. At minimum if you still care to cook in plastic, I'd recommend you find out if it is BPA free. I do suffer some of the listed symptoms related to BPA exposure.

1 out of 5 stars Barely worked and then died completely   December 3, 2008

It barely worked when it did turn on, and quickly thereafter just stopped turning on. I was expecting this to be a good product and was disappointed. Would not recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent   October 15, 2008

The best steamer on the planet... If you own one, you know what I mean, if you don't, what and the heck is wrong with you?! It is so simple and easy to use, you will never go back to the old fashion way of steaming or making rice. The key is how the steamer takes the condensation and holds it so you do not get that sour taste you can get form the old fashion way of steaming. Agian if I could give this 10 stars I would. I have bought them for friends and family, and each one thanks me after they use it one time.

4 out of 5 stars B & D Food Steamer   August 25, 2008
Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of this product. I use this product up to 10 times in the average week. This is the 2nd B & D Food Steamer I have had. I had the previous one since 1992 and LOVED it. The element gave out so I replaced with the updated version hoping I could use the basket, bowl and lid from the old version and I can. A bonus is that the basket is larger on the new unit, so I can stack them and steam two different things at once if I want to. The only things I would change are that I wouldn't use white for the bowls because when I use paprika and saffron in my rice it stains (the old versions were clear and much easier to clean). I thought the old version clear lid was much more sturdy and there was more space between the bowl and basket so that when I tipped the lid up the water on top fell outside the bowl. I also miss the curly cord as it was much easier to manuever in a small kitchen and I didn't have to worry about it falling into the sink.
