5 out of 5 stars Bissell-10/Hoover-1. Bissell Wins again.   January 6, 2009
I've owned Bissell and Hoover; this is my second Bissell. My first bissell is now a hand-me-down to my parents. This machine actually cleaned my parents floors better than the professional steam cleaning service they hired! If you could have seen the black gunk, I picked up.

PROS:
-Perfect cleaning machine; no matter the spot or level of dirt.
-Great tools with this machine.
-love the controls at the fingertips now.
-bag holds all the extra attachments and solutions.
-easier to clean out dog hair from machine and brushes
-The soap doesn't leak in this model
-hoses for attachments are nice and long.
-my allergies and illnesses are almost non-existent
-cord is REALLY long.
-setup is less than 5 minutes
-side brushes and spot clean are awesome functioning features and I love that the side brushes can be replaced.
-hardwood floor attachment work great on this model with the aire-dry.
***CONS****:
-Dogs still hates the noise!
-Now everyone know what your clean carpet looks like so, you have to use the machine frequently!
-Still holds a small quantity of water so, I have to refill frequently
-Takes longer now to do the carpets, if you want to really dry the carpet.
-Soap doesn't rinse out easy. Ya have to treat it like a washing machine: I have to walk-through once to wash, once to rinse and once to dry. So a 14x16 area takes about 2.5 hours to get it perfect; I have pets so that may seem long to some of you but the carpets are really dirty. If you have a multi-"big" dog house, you know what I mean.
-Stairs are still a pain in the back, no change there, maybe some day they'll invent something for this.
-no light indicators for when the water is hot enough to steam. Typically the floors get too wet/saturated and that tells you it isn't hot enough. There is no 'pre-heat' so you have to run the machine for about three minutes then it is ready. It would be nice if they change this (pre-heat light indicator) someday!
-no light indicator when soap or water is out. This is 'no change', where you just listen for the change in the engine sound and watch the little twirling red indicator for the fluid levels.

4 out of 5 stars Good cleaner   January 5, 2009
I used to spend about $500 a year from a professional cleaning service, which did a great job, but I wanted something to use more often and save some money too. Unfortunately, my favorite consumer reviews magazine had no input on deep cleaners, so I came over to Amazon.com to help me decide which one to get. The Bisseell 9500 got my vote. I love how it heats the water, the bladder system, and all the attachments it comes with. The only con so far is that you have to be extremely careful making sure the bladder container and carrying handle piece are securely fastened together. Mine wasn't, and I accidentally dropped mine and cracked the container. However, I easily found the replacement part on the Bissell.com website at a reasonable cost and had the new piece in about a week. IF you are going to buy a deeper cleaner, this is the one!

5 out of 5 stars One Deep Cleaner   December 22, 2008
The Bissell 9500 Deep Cleaner 2X Carpet shampooer is a fantastic machine. Not only did it really clean our carpets, but those of the floor below us -- all in one pass. Seriously, though, I was surprised at its effectiveness and how good the carpets looked after using it. I didn't think they were that dirty, but the Bissell removed a lot of unseen dirt.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible Horrible Horrible   December 21, 2008
My last bissell steam cleaner I had for twelve years and was used alot. This one was purchased in April '08 and no longer works at all Dec '08. I'm really tired of fighting with this machine to get it to work. The only time I didn't have to struggle with it was the first time I used it. Last time I used it was Nov '08 and I could only get the tool attachment to work. Now nothing works on it at all. I only used it three times to steam clean area rugs. I have no wall to wall carpeting anymore in my house. Oh and I forgot to mention. This machine used way too much carpet cleaner solution and leaks all over the place. I can only think people are rating the machine after useing it once which is why it has soo many good reviews. It actually worked okay the first time I used it too except for using huge amounts of carpet cleaner. Give it alittle time and you'll see what all the people who rating it badly are talking about. Horrible, thats all I can say. I made this purchase based on the good reviews. What a mistake.

5 out of 5 stars Great Carpet Cleaner   December 21, 2008
This carpet cleaner is just awesome. It is so easy to use and gets the carpets practically stain free. I had been without a carpet cleaner for a while and had some set in stains that was no problem for this cleaner, it lifted the stains out very quickly. The extra spray of cleaner is just what the doctor ordered, just spray and then go back over it, the stains are gone. I love the side blower, it blows out warm air to dry the carpet that isn't that wet to begin with. The extra roller of brushes is a great added feature too, it scrubs twice as much with little effort. All in all, I would recommend this scrubber for anyone looking for a great buy, this is my second Bissell and I won't think about buying a different brand.
