About Our Border Terrier Breeding Program
Welcome to Otterby Border Terriers. We specialize in uniting very special Border Terrier puppies with loving, responsible owners. We obtained our first Border Terrier, "Saucy" (Ch. Saucy Debutante of But 'N Ben, CG, Bronze Register of Merit) in 1982, and produced our first litter of Border puppies in 1985. All puppies are born in one of our upstairs bedrooms, and receive loving care and socialization. Puppies are brought downstairs at approximately 4 weeks of age to become accustomed to the noise of family life. They are groomed and handled regularly, and love people. Our breeding dogs are our pets. All puppies are sold on limited registration. We care deeply about the future of this breed, and plan our litters carefully. We have finished many Champions over the years, and also enjoy competing in obedience, agility and den trials. We are very proud of our puppies that go to show homes; but pet homes are every bit as important to us.

Health Information About Our Border Terrier Dogs & Puppies
At Otterby Border Terriers, the health, wellbeing and longevity of our Border Terriers, and the ultimate satisfaction of our Border Terrier puppy buyers are our first concerns. We take careful measures to ensure the health and genetic soundness of the Border Terriers in our breeding program, as well as the health of each puppy that we produce.
Parents are OFA screened (hips) and CERF screened (eyes). Puppies receive a thorough exam from our veterinarian prior to going to their new homes. All puppies have their first round of vaccinations, and are also micro-chipped.
Buyer Requirements for Our Border Terrier Puppies
We care deeply for every Border Terrier puppy that we bring into the world, and do our best to ensure that they are being placed in the very best homes we can find. In our buyers, we look for a "forever" home where puppy buyers have carefully considered the responsibilities that go along with Border Terrier puppy ownership, and be ready to make a life-long commitment to their new puppy.
We request that all potential buyers first read the description of our breed on the Border Terrier Club of America (BTCA) website; Borders are not for everyone! For those who fully understand terriers, and Borders in particular, they are a delightful breed. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
We love to keep in touch with our puppies after they leave our home, and enjoy receiving photos and updates on how our babies are doing in their new homes.
We are located just outside the small town of Manhattan, IL, located SW of Chicago, IL. Our puppies and adults enjoy large fenced enclosures with play equipment. I do not work outside of our home, so our Borders receive lots of attention every day. Although we do not ship, potential owners occasionally fly into the Chicago area and transport their puppy back with them, in a special carrier that fits under the airline seat.
